Lisa Ruth Prather, a long-time resident of the Corpus Christi area, left this world on Christmas morning 2013 in Portland, Oregon after a short illness. She was born 80 years ago to Ethel and James Vardaman Ray of Corpus Christi, Texas on April 27, 1933. She attended Corpus Christi High School and Del Mar College. She married Robert Prather in July of 1952. They made their home in Corpus Christi and Portland, Texas and she was a full-time homemaker and loving mother to their five children. She loved to vacation on the Frio...


Lisa Ruth Prather, a long-time resident of the Corpus Christi area, left this world on Christmas morning 2013 in Portland, Oregon after a short illness. She was born 80 years ago to Ethel and James Vardaman Ray of Corpus Christi, Texas on April 27, 1933. She attended Corpus Christi High School and Del Mar College. She married Robert Prather in July of 1952. They made their home in Corpus Christi and Portland, Texas and she was a full-time homemaker and loving mother to their five children. She loved to vacation on the Frio River. She enjoyed decorating her home, going to church, and spending time with family. She liked listening to country and easy listening music and watching classic movies. She was a spiritual seeker who placed the most value on things of the heart. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her husband Robert passed away December 28, 1999 after a long illness. She will be missed by her children Deborah (Dale Jones) Mills of Leakey, Carol (Al) Villalobos of Round Rock, Bobby (Barbara) Prather of Corpus Christi, James Prather of Portland, Oregon and Kathleen (Whitney) Madere of El Paso along with 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.



A graveside memorial will be held Thursday, January 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas.
